Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic

The Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic provides timely cardiology review for patients with stable chest pain that may be of cardiac origin. It is designed for stable outpatients without known coronary artery disease who need early specialist assessment and quick access to appropriate cardiac investigations, without the delay of routine cardiology pathways.

Patients are assessed by Dr Vahid Moosavi, Cardiologist, with streamlined access to advanced cardiac testing where indicated, such as an ECG, echocardiogram, stress echocardiogram, calcium score or CTCA. Consultations are available in person or via Telehealth.

Who this service is for

  • Chest tightness, pressure or heaviness
  • Symptoms brought on by exertion or emotional stress
  • Symptoms relieved by rest
  • Symptoms lasting minutes rather than seconds
  • Atypical symptoms with risk factors such as age over 40, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking or family history

This clinic is for stable patients only. If you have severe, sudden or ongoing chest pain, or chest pain with sweating, breathlessness or collapse, call 000 immediately. Suspected acute coronary syndrome and ST elevation on an ECG are medical emergencies.

What to expect

You will have a focused specialist assessment of your symptoms and risk, and where appropriate, rapid arrangement of the right cardiac test. The aim is a clear answer and a plan in a short timeframe, so you are not left waiting through a standard pathway. Telehealth is available where a face to face visit is not required.

For referring doctors

The Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic offers early specialist review for stable patients with suspected cardiac chest pain, with streamlined access to ECG, echocardiography, stress echocardiography, calcium scoring and CTCA as indicated. Please refer patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome or unstable angina directly to the Emergency Department rather than to this clinic. Stable referrals can be sent through the Open Referral Form or secure email, and Telehealth review is available.
